Project Highlight: Protective Stadium, Brasfield & Gorrie

What?

Protective Stadium is a 45,000-capacity multi-use, open-air stadium within the Birmingham-Jefferson Convention Complex in Birmingham, Alabama. Owned and operated by the Birmingham-Jefferson Civic Center Authority in downtown Birmingham, the complex is home to two exhibition halls offering generous space for trade shows and exhibitions and three entertainment venues including the state’s largest Arena and Concert Hall.

Why is this important?

Protective Stadium is the home field of the The University of Alabama at Birmingham Football team. In an Alabama Newscenter article, Tad Snider, Executive Director and CEO of the Birmingham Jefferson Civic Center Authority, credits Brasfield & Gorrie for executing the people-friendly design with an efficiency that had the stadium on track for completion ahead of the original construction schedule. “Brasfield & Gorrie’s reputation and capabilities are national in scope, but they have always been a company that cares about this community. They want Birmingham to succeed in every way,” says Snider.

What a cool project. I always thought it would be so cool to build a stadium or arena.
