What?

HITT Contracting is a leading commercial construction company with a national presence throughout the United States, headquartered in the Washington, DC area. The firm’s hospitality construction team is using OpenSpace’s technology on their nationally historically registered The Omni Homestead Resort project. The resort was originally founded in 1766 when Thomas Bullitt built a lodge on the site. The property has played host to 23 U.S. Presidents and held significant roles during World War II. HITT’s team is currently working in the West Wing, East Wing, and Tower guestrooms as part of an interior renovation that will encompass most of the property, including: all 483 guestrooms, meeting spaces, multiple public space areas including the Casino, Rubino’s Restaurant, Martha’s Market, and Historic Theatre.

Why is this important?

HITT Contracting is utilizing OpenSpace’s Manual 360° Photo feature to document every single room with a crisp image prior to renovating. For this particular project, documenting existing conditions is especially important, because all of the artwork and furniture that were previously in place will need to go back into all rooms at the same exact location after the renovation. While the HITT team may be using 360° videos for other instances, they found that for this specific use case, it was easier to document the existing conditions by setting up the tripod and having a single image taken versus taking an entire walk. The images were clearer and captured the space with detailed information. This level of documentation is key to be able to reference when it is time for these items to go back into the rooms.
