Hi there, We have a project where we uploaded a revit model into the Openspace using the Upload project. We have a BIM360 project and linked it with the architects BIM360 project but do not see the BIM360 project in the viewer, but the old uploaded model. Can we switch this out for the BIM360 link? or is this not how the BIM360 project link works? Thanks in advanceDamon

Collaboration with Field Notes just got easier with photo markups! Mark your location on your floor plan and add a Field Note. Call attention to specific issues in the photo, sketch the correct orientation, or just make your point more obvious. These markups can be seen on mobile and on web. Annotate photos out in the filed and then the office can confirm that they got the message. Please share thoughts here after you have tried the photo markup capability!

Hi Everyone,I work with 2 screens (how does anyone not these days!) and often when walking the site virtually in openspace, I wish that I could have my plan on one screen and the 360 photos on another. Does anyone know how to make this happen? See the photo above with the plan area in red and the 360 photos in blue. Unfortuantely I can’t figure out how to open the plan in it’s own seperate window. Please let me know if you knwo how to do this.Often when trying to look at different areas of the site I have to expand the plan to click the area I want and then minimize it to see the photos. It would save a lot of time if I could have them on two seperate screens.
I recently was using the 360 photo capture on my project in NYC and was approached by one of our third party inspectors asking about OpenSpace. I showed him how to use the app and some examples of the captures on the job and when looking into use cases and pricing, it seems like the target users in mind are owners, GCs, and trades. Has there been any thought to inspection agencies utilizing OpenSpace?
Hi All, In a few months, my team will be using OpenSpace for the first time on a new ground-up mixed use project. I will be managing and helping set up the initial process for our team to use OpenSpace. Our project engineer and superintendents will likely be doing most of the captures. Any tips or suggestions for a successful initial setup that would provide the most value through the duration of the project? Any lessons learned on what you wish you had implemented from day one? Any feedback or tips are appreciated!

Did anyone have to make a schedule to walk for their project? This helped provide some accountability to make sure the team was all doing their part in getting captures/data.Here’s a link to one I made if someone needs a starting point to make something for themselves.OpenSpace Schedule(black - the floor not existing yet, white - available capture window time frame, orange - scheduled finish)Who else has a schedule or some other supplemental tracking system they used for their projects to share to help out folks that may need some traction?
OpenSpace Field Notes are a great communication and documentation tool and are used in many different ways. What are some creative ways that your teams have used Field Notes? As Field Note features have evolved, it’s been amazing to see how our users have come up with different ways to use this tool. I've seen Field Notes used for QC/Safety Issue documentation, equipment tracking, and even O&M Manual handoff to the client!
Has anyone utilized the “playback” function on the web version during meetings? I know it usually takes a lot of bandwidth to run it while on a virtual meeting but seems the 0.5 speed is the most effective with the options provided. I wouldn't mind seeing a 0.25 speed option. Looking to see if anyone else uses this and how you apply it or showcase it with the teams.
I am curious to know how everyone is using openspace with sub-trades?I have started to use openspace for discussions with subtrades during the tendering phase of tenant Improvement projects. Sometimes it is easier to perform a MS TEAMS meeting with the subtrade and review the site conditions using openspace rather than meeting on-site. We no longer need to meet on-site for a 10-15 minute meeting! The subtrades appreciate this solution as they save time not having to travel to the site.I’m just curious, how are all of you using openspace to your advantage in working with subtrades?
used open space for something a little different today. Building a 35 story high rise currently we are framed with drywall top out done up to level 09 with layout done up to L19. MEP subs having layout of penetrations through walls on time is almost always an issue with “go backs” by framer/drywaller trade usually associated with missing layout. Sequencing has the MEP trades laying out their penetrations 1 floor ahead of framing. This creates opportunity for an openspace capture right before framing begins that accounts for layout having been present at the time framing begins and eliminates argument of weather layout was or was not there. This helps greatly with identifying cost responsible party of said “go back” work.Held camera face down towards floor about waist height with a decent light and walked the entire floor, every wall line and defiantly captured what was or was not there at the time.PRICELESS!
Can someone tell me if there is a way to set more capture points? meaning as i walk and capture “LAYOUT” the day my framing duration starts on a floor and i want to capture every inch of layoput done by MEP trades as evedience as to weather they did or did not have it done the day my duration begins i am not getting very good results. camera is set to the most pictures per second i can and i pause as i walk holding position over important locations to note and i wont get a picture sometimes. it will be between frames or openspace process a vantage point that isnt what im looking for. openspace always captures the overall “BIG PICTURE” but for “LAYOUT” captures this isnt work very well. is there a way to have more capture points on the finished stiched together version i get as a finish product? because as is a user has big gaps in capture.
Any opinions on the best 360 camera when using OpenSpace?I’ve really liked the Insta360 One X, but haven’t upgraded nor tried the X2 yet… and really haven’t used another camera for captures, so I just wanted to see if anyone has been able to test drive a couple and made a decision based on dating around rather than an arranged marriage.
Listening to several webinars, it sounds like there is a wide range of industries and construction projects that are utilizing OpenSpace. Currently we are using it to track several large tenant improvement jobs but what type of project or industry are you using the product? What tricks have you found for capturing that type of project? For me, I've found trying to walk the same path improves my capture time and zig zagging through column sections ensure I capture the full space. Walking the same path seems to streamline when we need to go back and search for a capture. Also, a good light really helps the capture images since we all know temporary lighting doesn’t usually cover everything. I've had a few developers approach us as well thinking this may be useful in building/campus maintenance on capturing existing conditions or even documenting projects themselves.
Hey Everyone,I thought I would ask how frequently everyone uses their OpenSpace camera on their jobsites to track the job? Also, do you visit the jobs on job milestones (EX: Inspection Dates, Exterior Envelope Complete, Structural Framing Complete etc.) in the overall construction schedule. As a Project Engineer for a large drywall/ceiling and specialties contractor, I visit a specific construction site every two to three weeks. This helps me report which walls are closed up and are still open.I’m looking forward to report milestones in DPC (Digital Production Control) and syncing it with OpenSpace Clearsight later this year.
Does anyone have any good early adoption stories of integrating OpenSpace into their current companies standard operating procedures? Some folks may be positioned well as a VDC manager or the Tech Specialist in a company, but I experienced a grass roots effort as a PM. Between convincing my bosses that using OpenSpace is worth it financially and my coworkers that it was worth their time (especially with learning how to use a 360 camera), it was very much an uphill battle. I felt like I hit a lot of hurdles along the way, but somehow was able to convince the team to use it. It was looked at as a superfluous product because “we already have cameras” or “we hire someone else to take pre-inspection photos”, and it’s hard to see the value up front because the data captured is what becomes valuable. Any stories out there to help the person bringing this to their boss or company for the first time?
I am curious how long everyone’s captures are and any tricks they may have found. For instance, on one job, the building is broken up by Floors and then by Cores. I set the project up in OpenSpace to be by Core and it would take about 7 mins to walk each one. 4 Floors and 3 cores per floor it would take me about 1hr and 15mins to capture the site and I still had storage available on the card and battery life left in the camera. On almost an identical project, I decided to setup it up per floor rather than cores. 5 floors (4 cores per floor) It would take me about 17min per floor to walk. By the 2nd floor I would still have storage left but no battery life in the camera left. I have found I can not do both buildings without clearing the sd card and that planning how your setup the project can dictated your capture time. We all know time is money so wanted to see if anyone how experimented at all with this.
