What? The city of West Des Moines, Iowa is currently undergoing a massive city-wide project to install a conduit network that will run down every street, and connect to every residential and commercial building in the city. Once complete, Google Fiber will come in and install their fiber-optic cable through the conduit system, providing lightning fast internet to the whole city! This is a complex project, involving many different parties and a large geographic footprint. Olsson, the engineering firm overseeing the project, is using OpenSpace to help document the project and ensure all parties, especially remote team members, are staying up to date on the status of the project. Why is this important? The footprint of West Des Moines is 48.07 mi², which makes the project size roughly 1,340,114,688 sq. ft.! The project is broken out into 14 phases, and Olsson has the contract for 8/14 of them, covering well over 50% of the city. On any given day, there are 200-300 employees working under
I am a new adopter and I am working to develop the best implementation for my company. After a few hands on captures I have a few ideas and questions. I may be alone in some of these comments. To jump into a capture it’s called “IMAGES” which was initially confusing. This could potentially be improved by calling it something else like “Captures” or “3D photos” or even “Enter”. I get the symbology now as I see it used elsewhere, but if it was a different color it might pop better to indicate that’s what you really want to see.The scroll feature seems disproportionate. I feel like I need five or six full scroll wheel units to zoom into the part of the floor plan I want to see. I find myself using the floor plan to navigate a lot, and I am really exercising my scroll wheel finger. The zoom similarly feels slow. This may all be part of the software intending to be phone/tablet based, but I see myself looking at these captures on my computer often. Is there a way to set a preference to the
Hello all, I am currently writing my dissertation on the significance of Omnidirectional Imaging within the management and delivery of construction projects, I would be very grateful to anyone who could take 5 to 10 minutes to complete my survey questionnaire. I tried to attached the PDF print out and the excel document, of which either can be completed and returned to me, however there is no option to do this on this platform. If you would like to help me please email me at this address email@example.com and I will send the survey. Thank you in advance for taking the time to read this post, hope you have a great weekend.
Hi Community!Jeevan here 👋 CEO of OpenSpace. OpenSpace was built on the jobsite, from day 1: my co-founders and I worked on the concept with builders in those very early days, and I spent pretty much every day on the site during that period. We exist to serve builders, and we know OpenSpace can only get better with customer input. This is why I wanted to reach out to you! I want to meet more of you and learn from you. Anything you love (or hate!) about OpenSpace? Got a feature you wish we would build? I’m all ears. The construction industry is a tight-knit network, and one that thrives when like-minded individuals work toward common goals. So let's connect, learn from each other, and work together to innovate! Want to meet and chat with me? 😁Schedule a 30-minute 1:1 with me!Send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org to get a meeting scheduled.
There seems to be a lot of great folks on some good projects, and thought it may be a good idea to have a virtual jobsite walkthrough on a project that maybe someone wouldn’t be able to see otherwise. I may not be heading to California soon, but it would be fun to see some of the projects that the community has going on.
📢 COMMUNITY ANNOUNCEMENT:On June 1, 2022, we will be archiving our Product Ideas group, and beta testing our Product Ideas module! WHY?More and more product ideas and feature requests are being submitted in our Product Ideas group. We want to optimize this process. By replacing the Product Ideas group with the Product Ideas module: 📂 Users will be able to submit product ideas under different Product Areas (Account Management, BIM, Capture, ClearSight, Field Notes, Integrations, Other) Users will be able to clearly see the number of votes each idea has, so it’s easier to identify the product ideas that are the most popular 🗨️ Just like the current Product Ideas group, Community members will still be able to leave comments on each other’s ideas WHAT CHANGES ARE BEING MADE?By June 1, 2022: ❌ You will no longer have access to the Product Ideas group. 💡 The Product Ideas module will be live (Main Menu) and can be accessed by all Community members who are OpenSpace users.IMPORTANT NOT
