Hello OpenSpace Community friends, we’re so happy you’re here!It would be great to know who’s who in the Community while we’re actively engaging with each other So please introduce yourself in the comments below and connect with other members. I’ll start! My name’s Nikiya and I’m the Community Manager at OpenSpace. Prior to joining OpenSpace, I worked in construction for about five years as a Project Engineer and a Project Manager for both a GC and a CM firm. I’ve been enjoying my role at OpenSpace, meeting you all, and hearing about your career paths and ideas for innovation in the industry. Hit me up if you have any questions, concerns, ideas to make our Community better, or just to say hi Looking forward to meeting you all!
Hello OpenSpace Community! As we continue growing, we are starting to plan out different events to get you all connected and meeting each other. We especially want to hold regional events so you can network with those near you.In order to do this, we need your help!We need to know where you all are located, so we can coordinate events around your locations. All you have to do:Please make sure COUNTRY is filled out in your Community profile. Adding CITY would also help, but at a bare minimum, we are only asking for COUNTRY. NOTE - The CITY field is actually private so only you and the OpenSpace Community Managers (who are planning the events) can see your city. Other Community members won’t have access to that information should you choose to include it.From there, our team can gather the data to see what events in what locations would make most sense So essentially, completing the COUNTRY (and even CITY) field in your Community profile is like adding a vote for an event where you are

There seems to be a lot of great folks on some good projects, and thought it may be a good idea to have a virtual jobsite walkthrough on a project that maybe someone wouldn’t be able to see otherwise. I may not be heading to California soon, but it would be fun to see some of the projects that the community has going on.

If you’re in the DC/MD/VA in the next month, there’s an ABC event (both members and non-members allowed) on June 23rd titled the Joint Tech Summit. It looks like a pretty good mix of ConTech companies, general contractors and subcontractors on the panel all focusing on tech in the industry and some topics on methodology. I’m balancing my schedule to see if I can get up there, but thought that there may be someone else that would be interested as well.Joint Tech Summit
Thank you to everyone who joined us in New York yesterday for our first in-person Community Happy Hour of the year! 😊 We enjoyed seeing many of our Community members. I was so impressed that we had attendees from all over (and not just New York) -- Boston, Connecticut, New Jersey, Pennsylvania! 😱 Thank you all for taking the time to meet the OpenSpace team and meet each other. We plan to host more regional OpenSpace Community events in the future, so make sure to stay up-to-date in the Community in case we host the next one in your area 😉
At the beginning of every year January/February there is a 3 or 4 day event in Los Vegas that is all about concrete and masonry construction. It is a massive gathering of 50-60,000 people and it is an amazing networking opportunity as well as a showcase of all things new and innovative in the industry. There are different halls dedicated to different areas of interest so usually there is a whole dedicated part just for new technologies and innovations. The events also end at 5pm each day and then your are in Vegas with the night to yourself.https://www.worldofconcrete.com/en/attendee.html

It was great to hear real-world experiences from OpenSpace customers Brasfield & Gorrie, U.S. Engineering, and Commodore Builders in our recent ENR webinar. Participants sent us a number of questions, so we wanted to share the answers with our entire community. Also, you can watch a recording of the webinar here. Story time! As we at OpenSpace were starting to plan our first-ever user conference, we knew the name was critical in setting the stage for the entire event. It needed to be meaningful, it needed to have the right tone, and it needed to represent the OpenSpace Community. So we reached out to the Community for help.We asked some of our users to share their ideas for the conference name. We got so many really impressive submissions! In the end, out of all the users’ submitted ideas and the internal OpenSpace team’s proposed ideas, Waypoint, submitted by @E_M_KC, was chosen. Shoutout to Ethan Meyers for naming OpenSpace’s first user conference! Merriam-Webster definition of “waypoint”
